Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of Made to Spec, operated by Made to Spec Technologies Inc. (“Made to Spec”, “we”, “us”). By using the site or sending a request for quote (an “RFQ”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What Made to Spec is
Made to Spec is a concierge sourcing service. You describe a part once, and we match your RFQ to capable Canadian machining, fabrication and finishing shops. The service is free for buyers and needs no account to start. Made to Spec is not a manufacturer and does not make parts. The shops we match you with are independent businesses. Any quote, lead time, price or commitment comes from a shop, not from Made to Spec, and is a matter between you and that shop. We do not guarantee that any shop will quote, accept, or complete your job.
Your responsibilities
- Give accurate information in your RFQ. Better specs get better quotes, and inaccurate ones waste everyone's time.
- Only upload drawings, models and files you have the right to share. Do not upload anything that infringes a third party's intellectual property or breaches a confidentiality obligation you owe someone else.
- If your part or its drawings are controlled goods, tell us before you upload. We route controlled work only to registered shops, as described on the trust and compliance page.
- Do not misuse the service: no unlawful use, no attempts to disrupt or reverse engineer the site, and no using it to send spam or to collect other users' information.
Your content and the licence you grant
You keep all rights in the drawings, models and information you submit. You grant Made to Spec a limited, non-exclusive licence to use that content for one purpose: to match and route your RFQ to capable Canadian shops and to communicate with you about it. We do not sell your content, publish it, or use it to train models. Files are shared with a shop only when your job is routed to it, and only the files that shop needs to quote. For shops and vendors
Shops that want to receive matched RFQs or be listed can start with vendor onboarding and pricing. How we handle and verify shop information is set out in the data and verification policy.
Disclaimers
The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant the workmanship, quality, timeliness, pricing or certifications of any independent shop. You are responsible for vetting a shop and its output before you rely on it.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Made to Spec is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service or from any dealing with an independent shop. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Made to Spec harmless from claims arising out of content you submit, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Governing law
Made to Spec Technologies Inc. is incorporated in Ontario, Canada. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory rights you have under applicable consumer law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new review date, and continued use after a change means you accept it. Questions about these terms: legal@madetospec.ca.
