Privacy Policy
Made to Spec Technologies Inc. respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- RFQ details you provide: your name, email, company and phone, plus the part specification (process, material, quantity, tolerance, finish, region and any notes).
- Files you upload, such as drawings or 3D models, to help a shop quote.
- Site usage: privacy-friendly, aggregate page analytics (which pages are viewed) collected through Vercel Analytics. We do not use these to build advertising profiles.
How and why we use it
We use your information for one core purpose: to run the concierge match. That means understanding your RFQ, matching and routing it to capable Canadian shops, and communicating with you about your request and quotes. Our basis for this is your consent, given when you submit an RFQ for exactly this purpose. We do not use your information for unrelated marketing without your consent.
Who we share it with
We share the details a shop needs to quote only with the shops your RFQ is routed to. We also rely on a small number of service providers that process information on our behalf under contract:
- Cloud hosting and storage, to run the site and hold files.
- Resend, to send transactional email about your RFQ.
- Vercel Analytics, for aggregate page metrics.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone else except where you ask us to, or where the law requires it through valid Canadian legal process.
How long we keep it
We keep a drawing and RFQ for as long as your request is active, plus a limited window for follow-up quoting, then purge it on our standard schedule. Retention specifics are covered on the trust and compliance page, and you can ask us to delete a file sooner. See your rights below.
How we protect it
Your files are stored on Canadian infrastructure and access inside Made to Spec is limited to the people running concierge matching. We are Canadian-owned and operated with no foreign corporate parent, so your information is subject to Canadian law rather than a foreign regime. The distinction between where data sits and whose law governs it is explained on the trust and compliance page.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent (subject to legal or contractual limits, for example an RFQ already in progress). To make a request, email our privacy officer at privacy@madetospec.ca. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Cookies and analytics
We keep client-side storage to a minimum: small conveniences such as remembering a preference, plus the aggregate page analytics above. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
